Pretty in Pink!

Serenity+Scott

I like the trends of color going on so I gathered up some of my favorite pinks from Serenity+Scott.

#1- Pink Bubbles(G10) a spearmint flavored, very opaque lip-gloss with high color impact. These glosses from Serenity+Scott more importantly do not have a sticky finish.

#2 Claire(S55) eye-shadow  is a beautiful crease color. This color is actually named after Claire Danes from the tv series Homeland. Serenity and Scott meet with Homeland’s Makeup Artist and created this color for her character to wear for the show.

#3 Phlox(S35) eye-shadow gives a soft iridescent pink that looks great for a pink lid or as a soft crease color.

#4 Georgia Peach(S22) eye-shadow is one of my favorites to add to the crease. Soft and subtle gives warmth to lid or crease. I add this color on top of Georgetown (S28) a lot.

#5 Coral Reef(B5) blush is beautiful pop of color with just a hint of shimmer to give you that summer glow.

#6 Haute Pink(NL7) is what I call my Nicki Minaj pink. This pink delivers a powerful punch of color to the lip. Add this underneath Pink Bubbles and POW! you have a beautiful bold pink lip.

Spring in your new look!

20140505-120049.jpgFrom Serenity+Scott Beauty I have picked some products to help “spring in” the new you.

#1 – I always start  a face with the eyes. I find that if you plan for accidents they won’t happen, so if some of the shadow falls out then wipe it off and continue on! Here I have chosen some Serenity+Scott eye shadows, from the top to the bottom, S2 Biscuit for the lid, S23 Peony mixed with S28 Georgetown for the crease.

#2 – I personally have very moody, oily skin. I love a product that can give me great coverage, not give me too much shine, not settle into places it shouldn’t, and STILL look like skin. The Skin Perfecting Foundation from Serenity+Scott is perfect for this.

#3 – Venice Beach blush is wonderful. It can that give you that light sun-kissed glow.

#4 – Brow Gels from Serentiy+Scott are the perfect way to achieve that full brow without anyone knowing. This “brow mascara” coats only the brow hair to give them more color and more depth. If you need a little fill-in I recommend finding an eye shadow color that matches your natural color. Then lightly apply a small dusting to your shape. Next apply the Serenity+Scott Brow Gel on top to help keep things in place for longer.

#5 – Serenity+Scott Mascara is non-waterproof but tear-proof buildable formula. The chunky brush allows you not to keep dipping back in for more product and adds great volume to the lash.

#6 – Her namesake Serenity lipstick is a beautiful shear warmer plum that adds a wonderful depth to you lips.

The brushes HAVE ARRIVED!

The new Serenity+Scott brushes are officially here. I am in love! As a makeup artist the first thing I noticed was the balance of these brushes. The blending ability of these brushes are beautiful and key, but also they feel so soft on my clients’ skin. Everyone I have applied makeup to always comment on the softness.

I work as a manager at the flag ship store for Serenity+Scott, Makeup at the Grove Arcade, as well as work a free lance Makeup Artist and I must say  these brushes are amazing. They are numbered 1 through 12, which makes communication about them so much easier.

The Number One brush is a concealing brush that offers a little more flexibility than the Number Two concealing brush. Number One I use when I would like a lighter application of concealer and Number Two I use when I would like a little more.

Number Three is our traditional foundation brush but with a spin. With the circular-cut Japanese synthetic fiber, that all the brushes sport, the flexibility of the fiber is greater than most synthetic fibers. This works great with buffing in your foundation.

Number Four brush is an angled blush/bronzer brush. With its density it picks up both powder and creme beautifully.

Number Five brush is a denser shadow brush that I use often for highlights and lids, very often as another concealer brush also.

Number Six brush is my favorite crease brush ever. This brush is super fluffy so it picks up little pigment and deposits little pigment, giving you more control.

Number Seven and Number Eight are both great smudging and detail-er brushes for around the eye area.

Number Nine is the angled liner brush. This brush allows you to work in powder and gel. I personally work in gels mostly for my work and am super picky about a liner brush. The length of the bristles gives you the ability to pinch the fibers for a finer line.

Number Ten is a mascara fan brush. For people who love a mascara but dislike the wand that is has, this brush is perfect.  Also for those hard to reach lashes or simply you would like a lighter application.

Number Eleven a lip brush.  A lip brush gives you that finished edge to any lip. Also there is always more lipstick left in that tube.

Number Twelve is a powder brush like no other. It too is a fluffier brush and gives a beautiful light weight application of any powder.

Skin focused

Spring time!  To achieve that glow Ren and I packed a Serenity+Scott bag filled with products that brighten the skin. First off good skin care is always a must. From Mario Badescu we chose Rose Water Facial Spray and Vitamin C Serum. The Rose spray is great as a hydrating toner but also keep a small bottle of it in your bag and spray a little for a boost of hydration.  The Vitamin C serum aids in fighting off damaging free radical AND vitamin C helps in lightening and brightening skin. From Femme Science we chose the Under Eye Renewal. This eye treatment is my favorite, I call it my hangover cure. Packed with Coq10, green tea extrat, and much more Eye Renewal  helps in depuffing the puff, stimulates blood flow to lighten dark circles, and fights off fine lines.

In makeup we chose the Balm’s Balm Shelter with an spf of 18, Serenity+Scott‘s Dual Action concealer, and highlighters from Serenity+Scott. Tinted moisturizers are great for soft coverage and often have a small spf to help protect your skin. The Dual Action Concealers from Serenity+Scott are super light weight with fantastic coverage. Most concealers are dry looking but these concealers are more of a dewy finish. To add a little something extra hit the cheek with a highlighter from Serenity+Scott. A perfect way to brighten up the skin. 20140410-120551.jpg

Seeing spots?

20140327-103152.jpgGlycolic acid is here to help. As spring is approaching and summer vacations around the corner let’s take a moment to pause for our skin. Sun spots or “Age spots” are caused by over exposure to the sun which cause a darkening of melanin or the pigment in our skin. We can help fight that by limiting our exposure to the sun and at the very least keeping up with reapplying our sunscreens. When using Glycolic acids our skin can become sensitive to the sun and can burn a bit easier so make sure to use a sunscreen of at least 30 and reapply as directed.

I use this over night treatment from Mario Badescu not for sun spots but for pigmented acne scars. This gel is to be worn over night by it self and washed off in the morning. For me, I approach skin a little differently than most. I find this treatment effective by using it no more than 3 to 4 times a week.
