Put spring in the air with your fragrance

20140324-115918.jpgCB I Hate Perfumes are some of the most unique fragrances out there. Here are some of my favorite scents of spring and summer. Come by the store and play!

To See a Flower” is like the steams of freshly cut flowers. One of the freshest spring notes I can think of.

“Invisible Monster” is truly one of his greenest notes. This scent takes me to the river bends here on a hot summer day. According to CB himself this sent is to “capture the smell of the islands in the Susquehanna River.”

Mr. Hulot’s Holiday” evokes salt water, old leather, and faint top notes of fresh green grass and florals.

“At the Beach :1966”, this scent reminds me a lot of summer vacations. It has that old school Coppertone smell but with salt water and sand thrown into the mix. I have often said it smells like you have  “been swimming all day in the ocean.”

Foundation… which one?

20140321-104341.jpg

Tinted moisturizers, BB cream, CC cream, liquid, mouse, powder……oh my!

Which one to choose? First off what is your skin type? Your skin type plays a HUGE role in which type of foundation you should choose. Second SPF or no SPF? Third what type of finish do you want  to achieve with your foundation? Now we begin to look into foundations.

I should start by saying that all the above names are foundations.

Tinted moisturizers are not moisturizersCalling them moisturizers is away to get those who are afraid of foundations into a foundation. They are a lighter weight foundation often with a dewy skin like finish. Great for drier skin types but also they can work on oily skin. I personally wear one every day and I am super oily. Tinted moisturizers also can have SPF.

BB cream and CC creams are again a new way of selling a foundation. Often these two products have higher SPFs and have a very dewy finish. These two products vary greatly from company to company so if you can take ’em for a test drive.

Liquid vs. mouse vs. powder. Liquid and mouse are going to give you the most coverage. I always recommend these two products to drier skin types. The finishes vary from dewy to matte, the finish depends on your needs and taste.  Powder bases differ greatly and this will affect their coverage and finish. “Mineral” powders are typically not for HD nor are they camera friendly. The term mineral kinda makes me nuts in the sense if it is a pigment most likely it is a mineral. “Mineral” was coined when companies wanted to remove water out of foundations to alleviate the need to use preservatives.   Talc based powders are a heavier coverage however not great for drier skin types. Non talc based powders are a better option for drier skins.

Skin

Age isn’t something that just happens to the unfortunate few rather it happens to us all. So start now in taking care of your skin! Men and Femme Science is perhaps my favorite line out there. The reason for this is because the products deliver powerful ingredients without leaving my skin feeling greasy. I have very oily skin and pron to outbreaks so I never liked putting moisturizers on until I discovered this line. Their eye treatment is what I call my “hang-over” cure and is packed in with ingredients such as Coq10, green tea extract, hyaluronic acid, Kojic Acid, and vitamins A,C,E, and K. This line is wonderful. Come in and check them out.

Doc Elliot beard care

In three scents Doc Elliot tackles the man’s face with beard oil, beard balm, and mustache wax. The black label evokes Barbicide, leather, sandalwood, and musk. The white label is a combination of cedar, absinthe, and warm amber. Then there is raw which is left with it’s unrefined natural scent.

I always tell women that beard care is seen as a gift for your man but really its gift to yourself. With argan, jojoba, grapeseed, hemp seed, and Vit E oils these essential tools work to make that beard a softer experience against your skin.doc elliot
